Sarah Gagnon, osteopath, burlingtonFounder and Director of BMS Wellness, Sarah has been performing and teaching dance including Latin, Modern, Jazz, Afro-Cubana, Afro-Braziliana and Ballroom throughout her career; she achieved her comprehensive Stott Pilates certification in 1998. Since then, Sarah has worked with elite athletes, post-rehabilitation patients and even insurance cases. Her post-rehab Pilates clients have included people with various health conditions such as knee replacements, asthma, hip replacements, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, COPD, Lupus, pregnancy, frozen shoulder, Parkinson's, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, arthritis, sciatica, spondylosis, breast cancer, as well as people recovering from various accidents and persistent muscular sprain patterns.

Her experiences over the years, combined with her own personal experiences as a dancer with SIBO and Fibromyalgia, opened Sarah's eyes to the fact that total wellness requires both active and passive healing modalities. Though Pilates is excellent for managing various chronic pain conditions, Sarah realised that tissue contractures, adhesions and other factors can prevent a complete restoration to the individual's pre-injury state. As such, she was on the hunt for a new craft. When Sarah discovered Bowen Therapy, she immediately knew its beauty and awesome power to awaken the body's own healer could help many people deal with chronic pain. However, since nobody truly understands how Bowen Therapy works and since no formal research is being undertaken to this end, Sarah decided to follow in the footsteps of Tom Bowen and become an osteopath.

Sarah's need to understand the healing process at a much deeper level has driven her to study classical osteopathy at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, or CAO. Classical osteopathy is a manual treatment modality that has spawned the evolution of other manual methods including chiropractic, cranial-sacral technique, myofascial release technique as well as various manipulative techniques used by physiotherapists. Her osteopathic studies have helped Sarah understand the healing process, as well as general health and wellness, to a far greater depth. Sarah has successfully completed all the requirements of the CAO and has earned her Master in the Practice of Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences (MOMSc). Sarah now treats osteopathically, integrating various osteopathic techniques in a whole-body adjustment in each treatment session. While her osteopathic practice is busy, Sarah is still accepting new patients.

Marie Baker, osteopath, burlingtonMarie Baker is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner who’s goal is help improve how your body functions so that it can heal naturally.

Marie had been in the health in wellness industry for 16 years prior to making the decision to return to school. In her work as an esthetician and reflexologist, she observed positive changes in overall health with subtle and seemingly superficial treatment. Morever, Marie has always loved nature and can be often found hiking, canoeing and camping. Two years ago, she began beginner adult ballet classes, where, always the observant student, she soon found herself analyzing the biomechanics of dance and how it might affect the body (both positively and negatively). Considering how these passions intersect, it is little wonder Marie embarked on the journey to help people overcome pain and regain health via a natural approach.  To this end, Marie began her search into the broad spectrum of manual therapeutic modalities and eventually discovered the art and science of classical osteopathy. This practice of hands-on-healing works to regain the body’s natural ability to self-heal and self-adjust. Her passion to help others find health, combined with a deep thirst for knowledge about all aspects of the human body, led Marie a career change. Marie has now completed her Master in the practice of Osteopathic Manipulatice Sciences, which is an extensive 4-year acedemic and clinical program, at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, and is currently accepting new patients.
